Archaeobotanical research offers the possibility to gain information about different aspects of human plant utilization in prehistoric and historic times out of plant remains from archaeological context. After taking the soil samples they are processed in various ways, the comprised plant remains are seperated and determined under the binocular or microskope. Analysis of seeds, fruits and vegetative plant parts as well as charcoal and pollen allow for conclusions about human diet, agriculture, land use, trade and import, the appearance of previous landscapes and changes in the human-environment-interaction over the centuries.
